Case Study - Barney
Barney, a fun loving Cavalier King Charles started coming to the practice because his owners were worried about his size and what it might do to his health. One year later Barney now a svelte 10.5kg with renewed vigour for life and still loves coming to the vets
Barney weighed over 15kg making him more than 40% overweight. Being a young boy and overweight put him at risk of developing heart disease and diabetes. Barney’s owners soon changed his food to a special prescription diet and have been very dedicated, bringing Barney to the practice nurse every month for him to be weighed. One year later Barney is now a svelte 10.5kg with new and has found a new vigour for life, and loves coming to the vets for a fuss-but no treats!!
Case Study - Starsky
Starsky, a chilled out mogster was very upset when he was told he was over 6kgs, nearly double the size of an average cat!
Who would have thought relaxing in the sun and sneaking off to the next door neighbours for a tasty treat would have caused this? Starskys owner was very keen to get this problem solved, and started him on a weight control diet. Poor starsky was worrying when his next meal was going to be, but he need not worry as we had a very clever trick up our sleeve!! Starsky’s prescription biscuits were put in a special feeding ball- every time he played with it a tasty treat popped out, a great way to get cats activity levels up!! The weight was soon beginning to drop off and he now enjoys playing outside instead of catching up on a few zzzzzzzzzzzzzz’s
